well I've narrowed my choices down (thanks to impute from this site) to what 22lr rifle to get and now I'm looking for how the members of this forumn rank these gun

Model 597 Yellow Jacket
Browning t-bolt
CZ 452
Ruger 10/22
Ruger 77/22

please place in order from best to worst and please give you reasons for your rankings. feel free to rank by Accuracy, durablity, or anything else. Just please tell me why you are ranking them in that order. also if you disagree with someone elses rankings out there please let me know. I know there are some die hard fans who will always put there preferance at the top and this could hurt my final decision.

It would probably be something like

CZ 452
Ruger 10/22 (assuming it has a half decent barrel on it like a GM - otherwise with the stock barrel it would be in last)
Browning T-bolt
Ruger 77/22
Rem 597

This was for accuracy for durability it would probably be the bolt actions and then the semi-autos in no real particular order.

The ruger 10/22, made to have everything on it replaced by better after market parts is more reliable and accurate than the cz452 which is made to be accurate? suuure.

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Not on this planet or any other world far, far away is the 10-22 more accurate!

My choice would be the 452 because it is the best accuracy for your $buck$ out of the box. I would put the 10-22 a very distant second just because of popularity. The t-bolt is probably good because most of previous models were, and I should put it second, but I have not shot one yet. That yellow remington:puke:

So how many of these guns have you actually shot or even seen for that matter. I've been shooting the same 10\22 stainless\standard barrel with all the factory parts for over 20 years, can't recall a misfire, can't even guess how many thousand rounds have been put through it with very little maintenance. I'd put its accuracy up against any gun my budies bring gopher hunting or to the range any day.

Personally, I prefer lever 22s.

I have a Henry Golden Boy and a Winchester, both take 22lr/22l/22s and both rifles are very accurate.

I've never had a single jam with either rifle with any type of 22 ammo.

So you are basing your opinion on 1 gun, as am I. You are also basing your opinion on 20 years of practice with one gun.

I'm a Ruger fan, I've owned 3 different ones so far and have a stupid amount of money in this last one which shoots very well, but I'll end up buying one of the 16" barreled 452s and most likely a GSG-5. There is something nice about a very accurate semi auto, there's also something about working the bolt on a nice gun and the GSG-5 is going to be just because it looks like something I can never legally own in this country.

I've had a fair amount of exposure to them all, and the only one listed that I haven't owned is a new style T-Bolt, and I will be very candid. It's highly unlikely that you will find a better rifle for the price, accuracy and dependability-wise, out of the box than the CZ 452 series. Bang for the buck is superb!! As for swift5337's challenge regarding any rifle at the range, I have several sporters that I would gladly bring along to show him where the bear s**t in the buckwheat. Included are the 452 Americans (3) in my safe.
I own a couple of Mossbergs that I strongly suspect would be competitive, too. Regards, Eagleye.
