Hey guys,

Are there any S&W 22lr revolvers with less than 6” barrels?

I used to own a 10 shot 617, but didn’t like the weight. The model 17 interests me, but wish it had a 4.25” barrel.

I recall seeing a model 63 on the EE that had a barrel that just passed the barrel length for restricted classification, but couldn’t afford it at the time. Anyone know more about that? Or other options?

Thanks

The model 63 was made with a 5 inch barrel. Not on their website now though.

The model 17 with 6 inch barrel is a sweet thing to shoot. I had a very nice one that I stupidly sold and, of course, regret selling...

they made a 4 in, but that may be out for you .
I don't really like the 6 in underlug barrel on the 617.
But a older 17, or better yet a K22 masterpiece is as good as it gets
I have a 14, 6" 38 masterpiece and I shoot that better than my 22 target guns, mainly because I shoot way more 38's these days
I think you should be able to get a 4 1/4 22lr, but I have not checked to see if Smith makes a 617 like that.
Chip saw??LOL, but putting the sight back on is a #####.
Check Ruger.
