22LR size

Hi all,
I was wondering what the exact size of a .22LR bullet is. Is the diameter actually .22 inches? Or is it a slightly different diameter?

.22LR uses a .223" bullet. The centerfire .22's such as .223, .220 Swift, 22-250 and so on use a .224" diameter bullet.

My CMMG conversion is ok, but not great (~3.5" groups at 50yds with iron sights). It also leads pretty heavily with sustained use of .22LR (say more than 500-600 rounds between cleanings). This is one of the reasons I want a dedicated .22LR AR upper, so it can use a proper chamber and the correct .223", 1:16 barrel specs. If only Questar would bring them in with 10-12" barrels instead of the stupid long 16" ones.
