Here's a target I shot this evening. I was anxious to shoot my rifle after getting a custom stock put on it. See:

I didn't have a stock for it but knew it could shoot and finally decided it was worth putting a stock on. Here's 5 shots (laupa ammo) rested at 50 yards in a breeze. The top group measures .23. By the way, the action is a russian MU12.

Those 2 were the best. Had a few more the size of the bottom group and the rest were a bit bigger. The gun shoots really well when the shooter does his part.

Cool. Which Lapua? Club, Super club, Midas M/L, Polar?

Master M. I've tried it in a couple of guns now with great results although it is a bit pricey. I should pick up a brick of the club stuff and try it out.

Not trying to be a pooper here, but I see at least 2 complete .22 bullet holes, thus, altho its a nice group :) , it has to be at least .222 inches... not .17

I could be mistaken but I think the standard way to measure the group is to measure from edge to edge and then subtract .22 (as posted, it was .38 edge to edge)
Please let me know if I'm mistaken.....thanks.

You are correct, however you forgot to take into account, that those bullet holes in your target are smaller then a full .22 dia. they closed up. You need to put a full .222 guage around the 2 farthest holes and measure from farthest edges of the guaged holes.

Just a note... a group in the ones will generally be one ragged hole, if you can see 2 distinct holes the group has to be at least 1 bullet dia.

Ok, see now I'm just going to have to head out and shoot off a few more boxes to see if I can tighten them up :)

Do you have a link to that gauge you are talking about or how to measure the groups correctly.....thanks.

As NormB mentioned, a standard .22cal bullet hole when shot through paper can range anywhere from about .16-.22. When I shoot groups quite often I shoot one group about an inch or so outside the group. When I go to measure the group I measure first this single hole and if it came out as beeing .207 or so (which I find is usually about normal) I subtract that from number from the group.

On some types of ammo like Eley match EPS however using correct paper I find that the diameter will come out to .223. Using Lapua superclub it is often closer to .205 or so for me usually.

Yes, excpet last time I called international imports (north sylva) they had over 100 cases of Lapua SC in stock :D

Some of which were quickly mine.:D But for the latter part of last year, all they had was skids of Polar.....
