What ever happened with the development of the various .23 caliber rifles? What ever happened with Doug?

Doug is a PM subject...

He got one .23 cal up and running and took a couple deer with it... interesting project.

It sounds ominous... there must have been some conflict ...

Anyone who has some knowledge please PM me..

Thanks

Dennis

According to Greentips, CGN's owner, cfbmi got banned for threatening a CGN member with having their bank accounts hacked into, getting him fired from his job and having criminals visit him and ruining his life. Something like that.

Greentips:

Making threats to other people is not just a no-no at the forum, it has potential criminal and civil consequences.

If you threaten someone that is not educated, you may scare the uneducated. You do it to people who are smarter and have some education, it will get you into a lot of trouble or even laughed at. Making ridiculous threats like "I will ruin your live by hacking into your bank account , get you fired and destroy your credit rating" is stupid. Threatening to harass people with gangsters is actually criminal. There is no justification to make things up like that, especially over a tiny bit of money.

These are the golden words of the day - don't threaten people over the internet or in real life, especially on the internet, it is forever recorded.

As for the .23 caliber rifles, it doesn't sound like there has ever been an overwhelming interest in .23 calibers. Which isn't surprising, really.

Leaving the history behind because that is where it belongs....

I have been curious about a .23 caliber for a long while now. One of my curiosity questions is why that particular caliber has never been explored or even wildcat'ed much...or at all? Every other size on the calipers seems to have drawn attention it seems.

I guess my biggest reason is how much I like the .223 and it is not game legal here. A properly developed .23 with the legal case length could make a nice low recoil game legal caliber and a fun varmint rifle.

But that's just me....

Well it isn't history if you don't have knowledge of it...

I thought there were several .23 barrels made and sold and chambered for several cartridges and custom bullets made as well... not just Douglas but other members too.

I was following that as well and was quite disappointed when Doug was banned. Not sure about the statement that there is mo interest in .23 caliber. I only count as one but was interested to see it unfold.

If there was any actual interest, some company would have got involved. As we know, all that is needed to sell stuff is marketing hype, right?:)

The 22, 6mm and 6.5mm calibers are pretty entrenched.

Matrix that made the bullets was sold and the bullet dies were returned to Douglas

There are only two parties that should be in the know.
As for the .23 Cal. be interesting to see results ...as in game and targets, etc...

There have been various .23 caliber cartridges created over the years. PO Ackley made a 23 caliber wildcat in the 1950's and since then more have popped up over the years. There is nothing a 23 caliber cartridge can do that hasn't been done by a 22 or 24 and no need to source special barrels and bullets, which is probably why we don't see 23 caliber rifles and ammunition on the local gun store shelf. :)

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I believe the Chinese military use a .23 caliber as their version of the .223/5.56 and claim that it has better....well....everything. LOL

Quite a while ago I found an internet article that discussed and explored the Chinese .23, examining it's relative strengths and weaknesses but I can no longer find it. I will keep looking.

I assume you are talking about the 5.8x42 which is a .228 caliber compared to the .224 of the 5.56. Pretty close to .23 :)

Hmm, I wonder if the same can be said of the queen of the 375 ?
Now, back to the regularly scheduled broadcast.

When the family of 22 calibers were not permitted for hunting big game there was a thought afoot for the next step up and the .234 or there abouts was commonly discussed by the writers.
The .243 was the next best alternative but selling something new always had appeal.

Spreading rumors are we ?
How is it you are privileged to this information?
Is it public knowledge cause this is the first time I have seen anything posted about those serious accusations you mention.
As I said in an earlier post the parties involved and the mods are the only ones who should actually know what took place.
So , whose loose lips are spreading such cowardly comments about past members ?
Iffen the mods feel I am out of line then they should contact me via pm, be more than happy to discuss the flavor of this topic.
Best Regards,
Rob
