HI,

Ive just started reloading again and came across of very old LRN bullets. The box does not state the GRN of the bullet but when I weigh them they are coming in between 232-236 grn. My question is I believe these to be normal 230 Grn LRN but why most lead bullets weigh more than what their specs indicate? Is it the lube? Just curios. Thanks

There are a variety of different lead alloys used by hobbyists and “pros” to make cast bullets. The closer an alloy is to pure lead, the heavier it will be.

And yes, the lube can add a few grains of weight….

All load data errs on the side of caution. so, if you don't push the envelope you shouldn't have any issues. As always, work up your loads to find any pressure issues before they get dangerous.
