.240 Weatherby anyone?

This 240 Weatherby sounds like a remarkable cartridge. Does anyone have one on here and could you give a ballistics preview of what yours is capable of? fps, drop at different yardages based on your sight in... etc...etc...

I don't know if I would say the .240 is a remarkable cartridge that would depend on the intended use if you want to use lighter weight bullets like a 60gr then 6mm-284 is a better choice if your looking at using heavier 100gr bullets for say deer the .257wby is a better choice....

I think you would be hard pressed to find a better cartridge for the light weight true mountain rifles. If you wanted to hunt goats for example, chances are your going up. And the lighter the rifle the better. A nice light recoiling cartridge in a light weight rifle would be the perfect balance. It won't beat you up so you'll get lot's of practice and make you a better rifleman. But it also packs enough wallop to get the job done. I think a .240 in the ultra lightweight would be a great combo that I would own.

I not hesitate to plug a moose in the boiler room with a nosler partition coming out of a .240 wby. provided it was not beyond 400yds.

I had one, and now I use a 240 Gibbs, which is a little faster. Great LR deer gun, and for coyotes on windy days. I have a Ron Smith gain twist barrel on mine, shoots very, very well. Making brass is a bit of a PITA, but still worth it. - dan

If the Gibbs is a PITA you should try swaging a belt on 25-06

I have a 257Wby & enjoy it. But for the money for a 240Wby I myself would switch up to a 243AI instead.

True True, but if someone is willing to spend the same money as a 240Wby they might as well go 243AI, based on the budget & price it will cost to reload 240Wby.

.243AI isn't much of a gain over the .243 anyway. Even P.O. himself had to be badgered into even putting it together. In his words, the .243 already is an improved cartridge. The .240 Roy can give an honest 10% speed gain with the same bullet as a .243 loaded to the teeth. Still, the AI thing is pretty cool. Me, I prefer my straight up .243, which happens to be a Weatherby. 3200 fps with an 85 gr TSX is plenty.
