Recently bought a .243 model 7 for my son. It came with a box of 95gr sst hornady factory ammo that was grouping 3/4 inch. I have a very limited reloading selection here so I ended up with the 100gr GS bullets. I can not get them under 2.5" at 100 yds. Is this to be expected out of the GS bullet? I have tried various loads and seating depths and have been loading for years. Any suggestions or I could always mailorder some different bullets.

Just my opinion, but I think that the Grand Slam bullets have a reputation of being a good hunting bullet, but not necessarily the most accurate one out there. They shoot good out of some rifles obviously as they have been on the market for years. But I'd order a different bullet to try. Lately I've been using the Barnes TSX and find that they shoot good. The Nosler Accubonds seem accurate too, but every rifle will have it's own favourites.

The rifle just doesn't like whatever loads you're using. What powder?
There's not much a 100 grain bullet will do that a 95 grain bullet won't do though.
"...very limited reloading selection..." Any place that sells reloading stuff can order whatever you want. Mail order will cost a fortune due to shipping costs.

soem guns just dont like a certain bullet. try switching to something else in the 100 grain range and trying again
