I have bought A new extra long range varmint gun. It is chambered in .243 Ackley improved and it marked .268nk. I have A Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25X50 scope for it and I need to get some good rings and base. The rifle its self is A Remingion Model 700 single shot action. What is the best rings i should use and the height of them. Also is this A long action rifle or how can I tell ? It is in A Mcmillan stock and is A nice unit!

Yes after I put it for sale I researched about the .243 AI and it is want I wanted for hunting. I was going to go with the .270 but I think the .243 Al is better for me.

Not having seen the rifle, if it is a factory single shot it might be a 40X variant but you say it is a M700, if in fact it is a 40X variant then it is a short action, I am not aware of any single shot Rem's in a long action, my 40X is a short action and it is chambered in 300 WM, Rem. might have changed this lately to include long actions in their single shots but not likely. A good one piece ring/base combo like the Talley light weight is a solid choice.
