.243 parker hale info

Twist is 1-10". 243 is effective on deer sized game out to 350 yards or a bit more with the right bullet and careful shot placement. The 1-10 will stabilize all 100 grain hunting bullets OK, but may balk at the longer match Boattail bullets. Eagleye.

400 yards is pushing any .243. Energy drops fast past 300 and so does the bullet. A lot depends on what you're shooting at though.

I took a caribou at 480 yards with a single shot through the neck with a .243 using 100 grain bullets. The only reason I took the shot was it was heading towards the trees and there was about 5 minutes of legal shooting time left (otherwise I'd NEVER take such a shot, but the scope and I were real good buddies that week, and I actually felt confident to make the shot). Anyhow, congrats on the gun, she'll serve you well. But do try to keep the shots under 300 if at all possible. And shoot it LOTS. I had shot over 300 rounds the week before I took the caribou, and my confidence at that time had never been higher or since then. Wish I hadn't of sold it.
