Work up a suitable load with a match bullet that will stabilise in your barrel and go have some fun. That is the first and most important thing.
There is always tons of discussion on the best mousetrap but a shooter that knows how to read the conditions with a consistent shooting rifle will always beat a shooter that has the lastest greatest but can't tell wind to 5 mph.
As long as the rifle will shoot consistently under 3/4MOA, you will have a great time hammering the 5 or 10 ring with a bunch of X/V thrown in for good measure.
Learn to read the wind and shoot to the abilities of the rifle and you will be surprised at how well you will do.
From there, you will have gained enough experience to decide whether you want to shoot Open or TR. Both are excellent classes and very competitive. You will not be shooting alone in either group.
Enjoy your first matches. F class is one of the easiest LR competitions to figure out and get decent results with.
