So I have a new 25-06 on its way and I was wondering what brass I should get. This will be my first experience reloading and I was planning on loading right from the start rather than trying to find some factory ammo to shoot through it. That said, what type of brass does everyone use? Does the brass make any difference in the accuracy of the rifle or just the number of reloads you will get out of it? Just looking for some suggestions here.

Thanks!
Evan

Brass

Sometimes you take what u can get. I have been using Winchester brass in my 25-06. Heavy barrel stainless on a Remington 700 action. Been working fine. I outside neck turned 50 rounds and left the other 50 as is from the factory except I trimmed all 100 to the same length. Just wanted to see if there was any difference from one batch to the other. The neck turned brass is SLIGHTLY better on the group sizes for bench rest work. I doubt if there would be any difference in a hunting rifle application.
Carry on!

You can resize both the 270, and 30-06 down to 25-06. Just make sure you dont mix with other guns.

I to use WW brass for the 25-06 !

Get your gunshop to order you in a couple of hundered pieces.
I didn't find it hard to get at all.

Full length resize, trim & deburr the primers flash holes before
you load ... some say you don't have to, but you'd be surprised
to see what you can sometimes find in a brand new bag of brass.
( 2 pieces of 300 Win. Mag. brass in a brand new SEALED bag
OF .264 Win Mag brass from Winchester ! - and generally, quite
a few cases mouths that are squashed out of round. Case lengths
can vary 5 or 6 thou. )

Gravel pit brass is what I use.Every spring just after snow leaves I drive around to places where I know people shoot and pick up brass.I have picked up a hell of alot of brass doing this. Not alot of 25-06 though, but enough to get a start.
You should make it a point to hit some gun shows for brass and factory loads.I have picked up 280 factory ammo as low as $10 a box.

I've been working mostly with winchester brass as well. There is better stuff out there but for hunting winchester is good enought and the price is right.

I'm still breaking in and fireforming brass for my 300WM. I just bought a few boxes of factory winchester ammo and when its all empty its time for reloading.
