.25-06 loads

I've tried and chronographed a lot of loads with bullets from 100 to 120 grs out of my 24" barrel. Used only H4831sc and Norma MRP. The best load of all for accuracy and good velocity was 57 gr. MRP under 100 gr. Nosler Partitions and/or 100 Hornadays. (Federal 215 primer)This produces a velocity of 3250 fps ave., which I think is respectable out of the shorter barrel.
When I run out of MRP I'll use Reloader 22, which is supposed to be identical. I can shoot it comfortably one handed off the bench, and so far haven't had to discard any brass after many reloads.

85 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips ... 57 grains of Reloader 19.
Fed. Gold Medal 210 Match primer.

115 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips ... 54 gr. of H 4831
same primer. ( yes, 2 gr. over some current "max." levels )

115 gr Ballistic Silvertip (CT)

57 grains RL25, CCI BR-2 primer

does 3105 fps out of a 24" Wby Ultralightweight MkV

I'm loading 120 grain speer for a buddy for his remington 700 with 50 grains of imr 4831. 3000 fps and outstanding accuracy. I've found that the 4831 gave the most consistant accuracy for the 25 06.

I was using that same combination but now I'm working with nosler 120grn BT's

Identical to brobones 26" pipe on a rugewr heavy barrel. It is just scarry how this thing can stick 6 rounds in less than a quarter size group. It shot that good out of the box, just love that piece.
Ken.

Try the 75 Grn. V-max. Those little pills are addicitve. Cheap and silly accurate.

My Ruger shoots them real good w/ max load of H4350. CCI BR2.

Hey guys, thanks for all the info. I appreciate it.:) What I have coming is a Savage BVSS .25-06 HB, laminate. The scope, a Leuopld VX-III 6.5-20-40mm with a Varmint reticle. For bullets, what I have on hand, at the moment, are 120gr soild base Noslers, Sierra 117gr Spitizer BT's, Barnes 115gr FB triple shock & 110gr Nosler Spitzer accubond. That should get me started, when the gun arrives, which has been delayed a couple of days as I screwed up on the credit card number. Another question. One of my 'go to' powders for cases of this capacity & larger (.30-06, .300wm & .308 Norma Mag) has been IMR 4350. I've had good results with it and notice in the latest Nosler manual in the 115gr bullet listings its noted as "the most accurate powder tested". Have any of you used it? Next thing I'll have to check for is a forum on 'Varmint hunting'. Thanks again.:)

I load 75 gn vmax (super good varmit bullet and bucks the wind)
over 57 grn of imr 4350
cci LR primers
for a total velocity of 3600-3650 ft/sec
and can poke the eye out of a gopher at 100 yard no problem

ah that was the rifle I was looking at a few years back, bought a tikka instead, I still think I made the wrong choice.

but the tikka is lighter and comes out for deer hunting every fall.

I've used 117grn sierra BT on deer, work great :)
