25-06 to 6.5-284

Have a savage 110fp in 25-06 looking into picking up a pre chambered and threaded lothar walther barrel in 6.5-284. My question is do i just rebarrel it or do i have to change anything else eg action,boltface mag.Thanks for any help.

The action and boltface should work fine. The long action is actually better for the 6.5-284, since you can seat the long-for-caliber bullets further out. I'm not sure about the magazine, though. It may need some tweaking, since the 6.5-284 is slightly wider than the .25-06.

I did that exact conversion on a m700 Remington, and the 6.5-284 fed perfectly without any alterations to the magazine feed rails. Regards, Eagleye.

I rechambered a Mauser 98 7x57mm to .284 and did not have to alter anything to allow feeding.

as already said, it'll work fine ..no mag tweeking required.
