Im looking at some 25 auto loads and need some info.

The standard 25 acp with a 50 grain bullet vs a 25 acp with the 35 grain XTP?

Am I understanding correctly that they both have the same powder load...with the only difference being the 15 grain difference in bullet weight??

The powder load is whatever the manufacturer designes the load to have....yes the one is 15 grains lighter bullet but the powder type and amount could be different.

Not many people reloading .25 ACP. Especially since it was declared prohibited. That doesn't mean you shouldn't. Just follow your manual religiously and you'll be fine.
"...both have the same powder load..." Nope. The 35 grain bullet actually starts with a wee bit more powder. A few tenths of a grain. Don't even think about doing anything but weighing each charge. 1.5 grains of powder isn't very much. Trickle that onto the scale.
There's data for both bullet weights on Hodgdon's site.

I lived for many years in the US, and actually loaded .25 ACP for a while. In my experience, with the caliber and the velocities, it doesn't really matter very much. If you want to "maximize" the .25, you have to realize that it just isn't capable of much more than the standard loading. For a while there was a .32 casing necked down to .25 that was a hummer, but even so you're dealing with calibers and velocities that are only marginally successful at best as defense cartridges, and just not adequate in any sense as target cartridges. On the other hand, if you're doing the loading, it's kind of fun.
