25 rimfire

Are 25 stevens short and 25 stevens long interchangeable in a bolt cooey like the22 short, long and long rifle? TIA

Yes, there's quite a length difference but yes.

I make centerfire versions of the Longs from .22 Hornet. The only difference between the Long and Short is the length.

It’s a lot of work to convert to centerfire but pretty cool when you do. I also use modified 22 hornet. I’ve also used a 22 cal liner and drilled out the barrel and Acraglas the barrel in and rechamber. That’s much easier and 22 is cheap.

I figured you were asking because you had some .25 RF shorts to fire in a factory Cooey chamber. Conversions and adapters are an entirely different question.

Conversion is probably no longer in the "Rimfire" section but if you ask that in BP & Antiques I can give you the rundown. Ideally you've got a lathe to go there - Mac100 has the other option identified.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have a some 25 short( I know these work) and some 25 long and was curious if I could fire them both in my Eatonia.

I am kind of a purest and don't like to see these old
guns re-barreled from hard to get obsolete calibres .

I have numerous .32rf & .25 Stevens rf rifles which I shoot
regularly tho only 10 -15 rounds / time as it costs $3 to $5 per shot.

I use my Anschutz , Coopers & CZ's for groups.

My wife's grandfather has a Stevens favorite and 250 rounds of 25 Stevens to go with it, he asked if I wanted to buy it, Problem was he knew what the ammo was worth.

Certainly a good amount of ammo, the beauty is that it
would last a life time as I wrote earlier not many shoot
for more than entertainment .

I have had some nice looking 25 stevens ammo, CIL with some of my old Stevens and miss fires where common, Had good strikes.
You could see the lead in flight almost . never tried that many as even 30 yrs ago, ammo was hard to find and I had 44 CF actions to shoot.
If the longs will chamber in the gun OK , than yes you could shoot them.

BTW I was watching a online auction ,or 2 a while back , 32 more so than 25 was selling at a point where I would not bother shooting it,
