Started shooting 10 months ago. Over the last few weeks I had run several 23s and 24s and could feel the elusive 25 just taunting me, until this evening! I had shot 5 rounds, 4 24s and a 23, never the same target causing me a problem. The 6th round I got all the way to the 2nd shot on 8 low and my hand was shaking as I was putting the shell into the lower barrel. I called for the bird and smoked it. It was a great round. All of the breaks were nice and clean. So now I've got myself a hat full of holes and a fancy Winchester '25 Straight' patch.

Now it's on to 50!

Cheers.

Congratulations man, well done! What a great feeling.

I better stop wearing my good hat to the skeet club . . .

Nah, I'm pretty safe.

Jukkabev. Isn’t that a great feeling!!! I just got my 25/25 in trap. But catch this I couldn’t get it done at 16 yards, but I got it during the handicap portion of the shoot from 20 yards.. Go figure. then I took the next 25 all the way to 47/50. I ended up shooting 96/100 and finishing 3rd in the handicap. $20 and a nice trophy. I was just ecstatic. On the Sunday I also hit a 25/25 from the 16 yard. That was my first registered shoot and I also started shooting this past spring. I am still waiting for my patch, but we will get it straight tonight.
Once again CONGRATS!!

Congratulations. At some clubs they'll make you wear the shot-up hat until you break your second straight. Darn good thing for me that's not the rule where I shoot.

First 25n straight in any clay target game is a landmark occaision...usually followed by telling the significant other that new equipment is in order.:) ;)

Congratulations! It took me forever to finally get my first 25. I lost count how many times I got around to station 6 or 7 and lost an easy one (or a hard one). It turns out I was probably trying too hard. I finally got my first 25 in a competition at a club a few hours away from home.

Get Steve M. to give you a few more pointers and you'll have your 50x50 in no time.

Indeed. Steve was a big help with the problem I had of of missing the outgoing bird on station 6 doubles. That cost me my 25 several times prior. Once I had station 6 sorted out, it was just a matter of time for it all to come together.

Congratulations ... now quit worrying about the gun, the shells, where your feet are, what colour your lenses are, which way the breeze is blowing, etc., etc., etc. Now it's just a hard focus on the targets, one by one by one ... and the only "easy one" is the one you've already broken. Stop counting "misses" ... the Referree will let you know when you have to shoot
2 at 8 !!!! That 50 (and more) will come soon enough !

Really good advice. The first time I went straight at skeet I was just loafing along until I hit Low 8 and felt two shells in my pocket. Damn I thought I hadn't missed until that point. Two inkballs later and the boys were shooting my hat.:D

Well, that wouldn't have been too long because I ran 50 straight today!

Aug 19-20 Uxbridge Open 4 Gun

Have you given this any consideration?

Brad.

Thanks! Yes, I'll be shooting this event. I'm also a member at Uxbridge. I might also be shooting this coming up weekend at Oshawa if there's room.

Cheers.

Congradulations to both 25 and 50 straight!
Nothing like that feeling of accomplishment that lasts about a day before you try for the next goal lol :)

Congratulations & well done. You're well on the way.

CAUTION: You'll find after your first 100 straight though, that NO ONE WILL GIVE YOU ANY MORE SHOOTING TIPS OR FURTHER HELPFUL ADVICE . You'll be all alone ( Ha ! ... just kidding ) I do find it helps as well, to remind myself after a particularly stellar day that: a) even a blind squirrel can occasionally find a nut, and, b) coffee at Tim Horton's will still cost me the same as it did earlier in the morning ! .... stops your head from becoming too large and prevents you from thinking you can hit anything that flies !!! ( LOL )

All kidding aside, jump in to a bit of organized competition and shoot some registered birds. It WILL make you a better shooter, and you'll get to meet some great folks. Besides, practice birds at the home Club just aren't the same !!!

I shot my first registered targets a few weeks ago at the Knotty Pine open.

I scored a 93 ( 24, 23, 23, 23 ) and then an 87 ( 21, 19 (ouch!) , 23, 24 ). It was pretty windy there, so I was pleased with the results overall.

PM me if you have any difficulties registering for or questions about the Ontario Skeet Championships in Oshawa this weekend upcoming.

Brad.

Just to make it official ...jukkabev gets no more help from me. He has an unfair advantage in that he has no neck, and therefore cannot left his head off the stock. LOL!

In all honesty, in a very short time, he has turned into a pretty good shooter. He takes advice well and puts it into play.

One last piece of advice. You say you promised your wife you wouldn't buy any more guns after your over under you bought. A tube set is not another gun. As long as she doesn't ask why there are more reloaders in the basement, she will never know and and you will not have (technically) lied to her.
