Just got back from the range and I have to say I’m pretty happy with what I got!
9.3x62 cz550 24” barrel. Velocity ain’t as fast as with some other powders like RL15 but I don’t have any of that so I went with Varget and started at 55gn all the way up to 62.5 and there was no signs of pressure, easy bolt lift, smooth and easy extraction, no flat primers. At 61.5 the primers started to loose a bit of the radius edge, but not even bad and like I wrote not heavy bolt lift or sticky extractions. All real smooth and easy!
Best accuracy was found at around 61gn so I loaded 6 rounds at that charge and went shooting, -7c up here today no wind. So the rifle was quite cold on the first shot but the 3 following shots went in @ 0.46” @ 100m
Velocity is acceptable I think at 2567fps giving 3658ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle, plenty for anything that walks the Yukon.
The last two rounds were shot and hit the 200 and 300m gong respectively! So I was happy with that too!
So that is my results with the Hornsby 250gn ECX bullets. Now to find a bison that would be kind enough to be on my path and get one or two of them bullets this winter!!
