The 257 Roberts is very sensitive to barrel twist rate/bullet shape/bullet length.
If your rifle still wears its factory barrel, the twist rate will likely be 1-10 or 1-12
I have two rifles chambered for the 257 Roberts. One is a Remington 700LA and the other is a Winchester Mod 70 FWT.
Neither of my rifles will give me good accuracy with either of the bullets you want to shoot.
Both of these rifles like ''flat base bullets'' for the best accuracy.
Your rifle may be different and shoot the bullets listed just fine.
I shoot 100 grain bullets out of both my rifles and they give very good results as far as velocities (3000fps) accuracy (-1moa)
They both give the best performance with powders faster than H414 and LR magnum primers.
When the cartridge was first developed, it was chambered in the older, slightly weaker, 93 Mausers and I've even see a few custom, US built Krags chambered for it.
That's why pressures show for it in reloading manuals are mostly around 45,000 psi.
With modern/stronger rifles, such as yours, there's no reason you can't take those pressures higher and come very close to 25-06 performance.
The best 257 Roberts I had for overall performance was built on a custom Mod 70 long action with a Hart 1-8 twist rate and a 23 inch bbl. It liked bullets +87 grains and loved anything 100+ grains.
My loads now only use 100 grain Hornady IL bullets
46.0 grains of W760 (H414) over CCI 250 primers through 22 inch barrels give me 3000fps. I load them out as far as the magwells will allow.
They both shoot bullets over 100 grains around 2.5 moa, which is fine if you're keeping your shots below 200meters.
Google ''hot loads for the 257 roberts" you will find all sorts of loads and suggestions.
