If someone wanted to upgrade his vanguard should a person who wants a more elite reifle just buy an accumark ofr should he buy something else and have some work done to it eg barrel, trigger, stock etc. I would like a high velocity machine that is very accurate. I do like the handgrips in the wby and sako and tikka but not rem

I think you should tell your "friend" thats its 6 of one of 1/2 dozen of the other.
If the goal is the aquire a high velocity rig thats accurate, you dont need to buy an accumark.

Correct me if I'm wrong, a 257wby in a vanguard shoots the same velocity as a 257wby in an accumark.

The accumark is nicer gun for sure but if you are looking for accurate velocity, I'd start handloading.

If you want a more "custom" rifle, then you can upgrade your vanguard with a trigger, stock, etc.

Also, what "handgrips" are you talking about? The little black ruberized pannels on the synthetic sako stocks?

Your 257 in the Vanguard should be just as accurate as a accumark..... won't make any difference. If its not, then work on load development.

Actually the 26" barrel of the accumark does provide more potential velocity than the 24" barrel on the vanguard. However, accuracy wise,I doubt that there is much difference on average. In fact,it is quite possible for a particular Vanguard to be more accurate than an Accumark.
