Hello,

I have a .257 Weatherby Magnum that I will be Re-barreling. Could anyone suggest what reamer size I should use and further specifications on the chamber ? Pacific tool and gauge has some dimensions already chosen but they want me to get specific with them.

Also, what barrel choices are compatible with the Weatherby Mark V action and Stock ?:

Your help is appreciated!!

Although I have no advice on reamers, barrels are different. Whatever smith you take you rifle to, will chamber and cut threads on the barrel for your action, check the head spacing with go/no-go gauges and youll be shooting again. The only part you will have to worry about your stock is if you go too heavy of a barrel contour for your stock. Id go the same contour as you have now, then you don't have to worry about any rubbing issues.

You can send it to the weatherby to there service shop here in Canada to be rebarrel Maybey?
I know Weatherby USA does this service still.
I would call and find out, this might be your best bet to have proper barrel contour, chambering and get the barrel blued at the same time!
Good luck, great calibre, the original long range weatherby calibre :)

OP: Curious as to why you are rebarreling the rifle. I just acquired a 1954 Southgate, CA Weatherby in .257M. It was part of a collection I bought. It sports a Lyman Wolverine scope. Hasn't been fired for many years.

Ya enough people told me to re-barrel in another Caliber but I have so many items on the reloading table that is compatible with .257Wby Mag. But it was a good idea to re-barrel with something different, or I can build another custom rifle.

I have over 2000 reloads through that barrel and the groups have opened up at 100 meters that is the purpose of re-barreling the rifle.
