257 weatherby magnum vanguard

I shoot a 257wby mag vangaurd sub moa model and a TC prohunter in 270 and the 257 with full load 115 tsx bullets definately kicks less...was out today to check one after the other. The 270 was 140 gr bullets. My 7mm model 70 has more recoil than either of those 2. My 12 year old son shoots my 257 with no problems.

Recoil and you

Depending on the weight of the rifle, the 257 Weatherby Mag is the same or close to the 270 win.
I have a Winchester in a 270 win and a new Remington in 257 Weatherby Mag. They are close.

Do keep in mind, the better the recoil pad, the less recoil felt.

Unfortunately, the rifle weights vary considerably,so a direct comparison isn't worth a great deal.Just one more reason that I don't find chuckhawks credible.

Yes, you are correct.

This is just a reference point.

Felt recoil can be hidden or dissipated in many different ways, such as: Recoil pad, total rifle weight, cartridge load, how rifle is held, etc.

My Winchester 70 in .270 win felt worse than my Marlin 45/70. I have since changed the recoil pad to a Limb Saver and I am enjoying shooting it again. Mind you it was just a solid rubber pad from factory.

My Remington 700 LSS in 257 Weatherby Mag has a nice factory recoil pad on it.

Like I said, my 2 cents.
