In the early 1950s, Mr. Ackley wildcated the .30-30 to a 224 dia called .22/30-30 Ackley Improved.

Time to get all of those lever-gunners onto the 6.5 mm. Time to let their frail kinfolk fire a centerfire lever action that is mild, accurate and deadly.

Let's open up lever action strength, tubed magazine rifles for a 6.5 mm cartridge called .26-30. Perhaps even using those soft polymer-tipped bullets.

This is rifle 'shareware'.

What are your thoughts?

When it comes to wildcatting, there really isn't anything new. Unless you make your own proprietory case that is not based off anything else, you can have a unique venture.

Otherwise, something similar has already been made. There are only so many ways to move a shoulder.

The advantage to leverguns is handiness in close quarters, big heavy bullets for max. knockdown at short to medium range, benefits most from cast bullets which are cheap to buy and use.......a .26 cal. would loose all that, same as the 7-30 Waters and the 7mm Ste
both are dead in the water.

160 grain RN bullets would be the logical choice, but there isn't much else available that is suitable for tube magazines.

The end result could be similar in performance to the rimmed 6.5mm Mannlicher cartridge.

There was a bunch of testing done regarding the myth of chain fire in tube mags. if I recall, they were never able to get one shell to set another off. That being said, I don't know that I would use a pointed bullet in a tube magazine 300 RUM, 50 BMG or something that big. Anything based on a 30-30 or 30-06 class I would have no problem with trying.

maybe best to do this to a bolt action 30-30. Just order the reamer and find a smith that will thread and spin the barrel on for you.

or Maybe find a cheap M-94 with a bad barrel and get that one rebarreled ? ?

As for the pointy bullets in the tube mag issues..Use a Hornady SST bullet - Make your own LeverRevolution Ammo !
