26" barrels for sporting clays

If you own one as described, you can certainly shoot some sporting and have a lot of fun. Is it ideal ? No not really but if open choked, ideal for the close fast ones and rabbits!

Truthfully, while I do own a 32" Guerini Sporter and find it great for Sporting, I can do quite well using my 26" SKT/SKT barreled field configured Browning Superposed if the targets are not too far beyond 35 yd's and is death personified on the rabbits!

If you are looking to purchase a field O/U specifically to shoot sporting, a better choice would likely be a 30" barreled one with choke tubes or fixed chokes adjusted to IC/IC or LM/LM.
 
The reason I ask this question is today I ordered the browning citori micro from site sponsor elwood epps.you may ask why the micro well being a not so large guy I find it hard to get firearms that fit me .the micro is a 2010 shotshow offering which has 26" bbls and a 13 3/4" lop.the gun will be used more as a field gun for grouse and woodcock as well as ducks and geese over decoys.I under stand that the longer bbl helps with the swing on clays .right know I am using a 28" bbl gun and didn't think a 2" bbl reduction would be much of a difference.I will not be shooting sporting clays competively but only for practice and the enjoyment of it.

In that case, seeing that you have ordered your gun and confident it will fit you why yes it will do just fine. Get a few extra chokes, extended ones for ease of changing, shoot lower velocity 1 ounce loads if you can find them or 1 1/8 lower velocity loads to keep from punishing your shoulder.

Thanks planemaker I reload my own shells and have been shooting a light yildiz O/U.I wanted a gun of better quality and did not want to cut down the stock of a quality gun to make it fit.the 13 3/4" lop is where I have my 870 rem and the yildiz cut to now so I think it will be a good fit.the other thing i found out about the citori micro is its a one of a kind in canada epps bought two one in 12ga and one in 20ga.they were a 2010 shotshow run.i did order with the gun a cyl and skeet choke as well as the F,M,IC chokes that come with it.

If that O/U fits well then using the same shotgun for SC will surely facilitate your subsequent performance in the field.

No argument that a set of longer bbls is a great assist in terms of following clay targets effectively. Nevertheless, for the informal clay shooter, much of the performance (at the range) would be dependent on how much the individual has set his/her mind to the actual enjoyment of the game and simply paying attention towards learning the techniques and nothing else.

Having that mindset helps one to concentrate and strive to shoot better - at least it does for me :).
 
You see all kinds of guns on a sporting clays field. Although perhaps not the first choice for a serious competitor your gun will be just fine. You are there to keep your skills up in the off season and have fun shooting. Enjoy.
