What is a good twist rate for the common 6.5 bullets available? I am looking to reach out to 1000 yards. There is a 7 twist for sale on the exchange but for my 308 I really like the 11.2.

I would get a 1:8 twist. My .260 sports a 1:9 twist and does manage to do very well with Lapua 139 gr. Scenars. The bullets have done very well out to 1050 yards.

The 1:8 gives you a wider selection of projectiles like the 140 Berger VLD and Hornady Amax, which can be finicky on twist rates. I have found the Sierras to stabilize fine with my slower twist rate.
Best of luck.

If i recall my Creedmoor to come from NS is a 1 in 8, just checked my TC Precision Hunter, it is a 1 in 8 twist as well ... JP.

My Shilen is 1:8.5, which works well all the way up to 139 gr bullets. I tried some 142's but could not get a group, it seems like that extra .5" of twist makes a difference.
