I have a 6.5x55 AI, and it is a very nice little rifle. I have a M38 barrel on it. I shoot either 139 gr Norma Plastic Tips or 156 gr RN. (I bought the RN's years ago, and I am not sure who made them. They are from somewhere in europe) 2850 is a modest load with the 139's and 2700 is modest with the 156's. I had it in a beach stock that I bought at SIR long ago, and it broke the recoil block out of the stock, so I just put it in a Richards stock, I look forward to seeing how it groups. The 156's have shown excellent penetration on a moose. The only drawback is that I lost a cartridge in the magazine, with the expanded cases. I can only get 4, but 4 has been enough. Even 2600 with a 156 RN is quite flat, especially for hunting in the forest, where 200 yards is a long shot.
