Has anyone resized 308 cases to 260. Can this be done in one step or to 7mm then 6.5? I have a pile of 308/762 cases and I'm looking at a 260 Rem project, would rather not waste the cases and have to buy new.

I have found it to be a lot easier on the cases if you go down to 7mm first. I found when I went straight down to 6.5mm that I would get some more inconsistancies at the neck/shoulder junction.

Best to neck them down to 7mm, then 260. You might end up with case necks that are too thick and run into excessive pressure with your handloads.

A little late but thanks for the advice, I'm sure a 7mm die is cheaper than 600 rds of brass. As far as thick necks, I'll be neck turning in and out.

I sized Winchester .308 Win brass in two steps:

- run through 7mm-08 die, with expander button removed (no sense making the case mouth any bigger)
- then size with a 6.5mm neck bushing (.292" IIRC in my case)

If you have a .260 Rem FL die, I would try doing it in one step with a few of them.
