260 Rem headspace?

Anyone know what the correct headspace for the 260 Rem is? Is it 1.630 - same as for the 243, 308, etc?

Headspace isn't a specific figure. It's a manufacturing tolerance.

The parent case is the .308 case and you use the same go gauge for the .243 Win, .260 Rem. 7mm-08,.308 Win , .338-08, .358 Win.

naw, it's nothing complicated. I bought a pre-chambered and threaded Savage heavy barrel in the EE a few days back. I've already got a Savage action wrench and a 308 go gauge, so that should be all I need to convert my 22-250.

The barrel arrived this morning. I drilled a hole in a 4x4 and split it in half to use as a barrel block. Clamped it in the ole shop press and gave the barrel wrench a solid whack with a mallet.

Installed the replacement barrel and headspaced it, tightening the barrel nut hand tight with the wrench and voila!

Took a whole 20 minutes

Nothing like ye old wood clamp barrel vise. Affordable and easily replaced when worn. Savage makes barrel changing a snap. Nice work prosper!
