Help me out here guys. I have a 24" barrel 260 Rem BDL that will primarily be shooting 95's up to 120's at ranges from 50 yards out to best 250 - 300 at coyotes, dirt pigs and deer. I'm shooting V-Max's and BT's. Now the big question is what scope to toss on it? I've got a 243 Win Tikka T3 with a Bushnell 4-16x50 that I use for longer range dirt piggin' and a 270 Win with a Leupold VXII 4-12 A/O LR Duplex which I've married up for longer range deer with 140 AB's. So what to put on the 260:confused: Here's what I'm considering......1) Bushnell 4200 3-9x40 ballistic plex, 2) Leupold VXII 4-12 A/O LR Duplex or 3) Leupold VXIII 2.5 - 8x36 Boone & Crockett 4) Leupold VXIII 4.5-14x40 varmint hunter reticle

Help me make up my mind! The idea of a ballistic reticle of sorts is handy as this does not shoot as flat as one might think

I got a VXII 4-12x40 AO on my 260, with a Stoney Point elevation turret

of the scopes you mentioned, I'd go with the
2) Leupold VXII 4-12 A/O LR Duplex

260 should shoot plenty flat though, with a 95 vmax @ 3200+ fps...(mine does :))

I made a decision a while back that all my future scopes shall have mil-dot reticles. Why? It's standard, and not specific to each load. I'll get more practise ranging with a mil-dot if all my guns have one. Every manufacturer makes a mil-dot reticle and they all work the same, so you're not locked into one brand.

But to 300 yards? I'd agree that a 260 is plenty flat enough for that kind of range. 300 isn't really all that far, ballistically speaking. Benchrest shooters refer to the 100, 200 and 300 yard matches as the 'point blank' ranges

I put a VXII 6-18 AO LR on a 25-06 for the longer stuff and switch-over to
a VXII 2-7 for deer hunting. The "return to zero" for the Leupold QR base/ring set up is very good. Generally as advertised, within 1/2" @ 100.

Yeah I like the Leupold products, VXII or III, you should have a variable with at least 10X on the high side cuz them 260's can rock at long range... too bad it's a Remington... what have you swapped out so far?

Leupold VXIII 4.5 - 14 x50 LR Varmint Reticle is what I think it will wear. The price of the VXII 4-12 A/O LR duplex is retarded right now...heck I got one when they first came out for $346 USD...now $400 ++ USD. Besides I think the dots are too big for varminting.
