I have a 260 SS 20 inch take off from a model 7 rem that i purchaced for a lh model 700 in 243 after shooting the 243 i was so impressed with the way it shot it would be a shame to take it apart So still wanting to have a 260 could i use the barrel on a rem 760 pump I dont mind machine cost as long as it is within safety standards and functions propper any sugestions Thanks

I just compared 700 takeoff with a 760 takeoff. They appear to be the same shank length, the 760 being smaller diameter. I think you should be able to have the 700 shank section turned down to fit a 760 without a problem.
There may be another term for the area of a barrel that is reduced diameter to thread into an action, but I always called it the shank.

From what I've read the 700 barrels are 1.0625 and the 7600 are .9375.

I was hoping for a simple turn down and rethread, and set the head spacing.

I'm starting with either a 270 or a 30-06 and rebarrel to .25-06

The 7600 uses a "barrel extension" that the barrel threads into the essentially bolts into the receiver.

I know a lot of people are gonna say "why" but I've really fell in love with these pumps

The barrel must be fitted to the barrel extension.
It is do-able, has been done.
No reason that there would be any functioning/feed issues.
