Switch to 6.5x55 - at least equal performance at far lower breach pressure.

This seems goofy to me, he has a perfectly good 260.
The 260 is a great calibre, tod has had great results form H4831sc, I used H4350, I think 44 gr with the 129 gr Hornady, but my pet load for deer and whatever else walked by my spot was 125 gr partiton, 45 gr of H4350, CCI large rifle primer, loaded to the end of the magazine 2.805. Accurate and very hard on deer.

I shoot a rem700 mountain rifle in .260 out of the box it shot nice patterns. After a little tweaking from local gunsmith it put three shots into a witnessed group of 3/8 inch with nosler 120gr. and 47.5 rl 19

I was having great results today at the range with 130 gr Barnes TSX over Ramshot BigGame, H4831, & H4350. Under moa and speeds around 2840 fps for all three.

Hey guys,
I've got a bunch of IMR 4350 around. I'm looking at loading up some Barnes TSX 120 grains and the manual lists H4350 as a reccomended powder. Other than being taken over by Hogdon, is the IMR powder the same and can it be loaded to the same specs?

Another note, when loading TSX, do you follow the same loading procedures as the XBT or how do you find the correct loads? Any 'pet' loads for the 120 grain TSX in the 260?

Thanks....

pretty close though, if you start low and work up slowly you'll be fine

Ive tried to get some 120 TSXbt but havent gotten them yet, although the 130 works pretty awesome anyways :p

Se my response on the campfire.
they are not the same powders, can't be switched.

Hey Martin,
I asked on the campfire, but am just curious what the differences are. I've got 3 cansiters of IMR 4350 and cant get to Calgary or Lethbridge to get any H4350 for another month (I work 26 straight comin up). Just curious what I should be looking for or whether its worth loading with the IMR 4350 for now.

Thanks man for all the help...

Sorry, Didnt see this response.......I'll start a bit low and work my way up with the IMR 4350 and see how things go. I've heard R-19 and Varget are supposed to work really good with the 260 as well....might have to get some when I'm in town and have a shop with some selection!

Blaze away with the IMR, I think Varget is a little quick burning for the 260 except with light bullets (100 grs), just my opinion. I have never had good accuracy results with reloder 19, good velocites in a couple of different calibres, but not accurate. I've pretty much stopped using it.

Thanks Martin.....I'll try some IMR 4350 and see how she goes. Making a trip back to the store today to see what other types of powder I might be able to scrounge.......

I'd like to have a couple of powders to see what produces better accuracy. Speed isnt super important to me, but accuracy is what I'm after.

I'll be buying some H4350 when back in the city....

Got over to the shop today and managed to get a canister of Varget, RL-19, and H4831sc so I'll have a few to try out and play with the IMR 4350.

Also picked up some 140 grain partitions. They didnt have anything else other than 100 grain Ballistic Tips, but I figured I'd load up some 140s and give them a shot as well. When I get back to the city, I'll buy some 125's and try them out.

140 gr Nosler Partitions over 46 grains of H4831sc was a great load in my first 260 Remington (LSS mtn rifle). CCI BR-2 primer IIRC. 2650 fps and groups under 1", as small as .3"!

kills deer like a mofo

Tod,
I actually was searching around on Accuratereloading forums and found that exact load from 2002 or 2003 of yours. Found some good info on the .260 and different loads. Do you have an OAL for that load?
Thanks for the load info....I think we'll use both the 120 TSX and the 140 NP this season and go from there in the winter. I'm sure either will knock a big mulie down hard, with the option for my wife to shoot a cow elk this november as well.....

Thanks guys.....having that long-throat .284Win I could load nice and long....the action was a bit longer though, so it helped for room. Appreciate all the responses!

Well I did some loading last night for the gun. Loaded 10 rounds of 120gr TSX over RL-19 (44 grains), as well as 10 rounds with 45 grains of RL-19.

Tonight I'll be loading a few different sets of TSX's as well as 140 Partitions in a few different combos to see what works in the gun........

Loading the TSX's for the first time, they sure look great. Cant wait to shoot em....
