260 Rem...what's your recipe

Hey guys,
Well did some more loading and playing around and found that the throat on my Rem 700 Mtn isnt as long as others have been lucky with. I have to seat the 140 NP's to about 2.780 to get clearance from the lands. I had tried seating the 120 TSX at 2.80 and when I tried to close the bolt it got very sticky. I dont have a Stoney-Point guage, so I marked the bullet and it showed marks from the lands. Seated it a bit lower each time and found that 2.78 is about where I need to be for clearance on the lands.
Does this suprise anyone that I have to load right to SAAMI specs or is this natural? This is the first 'factory' gun I've loaded for. My last one was a Leeper .284 with a long throat, so I had lots of room to play and find the right spot. Looks like the .260 will be loaded almost exactly to factory specs. Not horrible as it gives a BIT more room in the mag box anyways. Just curious if this is what I should have expected.
I loaded up the 140 NP's behind 45, 45.5, and 46 grains of H4381sc and we'll see how each shoot.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, just seat a bit off the lands, and try em

my custom 260 has a short throat, my OAL for 130 TSX just off the lands is 2.73"

Yea I'm not worried.....still good seating depth and good function through the mag, so thats whats important....we'll see how accuracy is once the scope, rings and stock come....haha....
