The 142Msatchking in front of R-22 worked really well for me at 550 yards, which is as long as our range was. My rifle was a T-3 Varmint in 6.5x55.
I was there when you consistently hit clays on the 550 berm.
Still have that gun?

When I retired and moved, I sold that rifle. My new range is only 300m, so I switched to a T-3 Varmint in 223rem. It is also a 1/2 moa rifle, but perhaps not quite as good as the 6.5x55 was. With the 6.5x55, as long as a person was half decent at judging wind, a clay wasn't difficult to hit at 550. As you know, I don't use windmeters or plug numbers into my phone like many people did before shooting 550. I haven't purchased the 142s in a couple of years, as I bought a few 500 boxes last time. I would try Rayner Shine Gunworks or X-reload.

Here's a center hit at 712y with my 260 on a 15" plate.
I moved to the 8" plate and had a string of 7 hits in a row.
Damn nice shooting!
Daka- I was using the 129 accubond long range but there are plenty of long slippery bullets in 6.5 that are great for long range. On the 680 yard target I had to go a few clicks up from 600 yards as I wasn't exactly sure of the distance until after. Once I got it set I went three for three. I'm not a particularly good shot compared to others but I found the 6.5s really buck the wind well.

when I lived in Ft Mc I had a Mountain rifle LSS in 260 and by coincidence, the bottom of the reticle when sighted in at 250 yards was a dead on hold at the 500 birm and I could regularly pound rocks on it, probably 3/4 shots.
Several years later had a T3 hunter in 6.5x55, I worked up using 260 data and it was crazy accurate, the first time out I had 2 boxes of ammo that were a mix of bullet weights and brands and I shot a 10 shot group at just over an inch. Later on working up loads with both H4831 and Re22 it was hard to pick a load they were all so good.
