I'm thinking of rechambering a 24" .260 to 6.5Rem Mag.I won't be shooting anything heavier than 130 Accubonds,so I'm thinkin' that the Remington S/A box will still give me a reasonable COL.What about the bolt, what's entailed with that?Any help appreciated,Thanks....Mur

You will have bolt-face and feed rail differences, if you are using a standard short action. A SAUM action might be better to start with...

Why dont you sell the 260, buy a 7SAUM and build a 6.5 rem mag?
Or I guess if you arent set on the 6.5, you could sell the 260 - buy a Model 7 XCR in 270wsm.
Dont you love it when everyone knows what YOU should do?:)

Brendan270,I don't think there'll be enough room in the mag box for the 6.5-284!...............280 ackley I'm leaning towards a bit more zip with 130ABs.......Hi double gun,I prefer a ss BDL SA if I can find one,I'm not big on Model 7s although I do have a Ti stock for a SAUM here somewhere, not even sure if the Model 7 will fit in it,probably not.I have the 25-06AI being built now, should be ready in a month or two....Cheers,Mur

I guess I could do as Doublegun suggests, use the SAUM action, screw on a 23"Pacnor 3 groove, and use the factory plastic stock until I can swing a McMillan or a Wildcat for it.I need to have it done for mid August if I'm going to do it,I'm headed for caribou out of Dease Lake on Sept.2nd,if my health allows.I'll survive if it doesn't get done in time I'll use the .280AI instead.I get my chemo next Monday,so I'll have 3 months to get back in shape!
