264 Win mag barrel twist .......

I might have to rebarrel my 264 Win mag. I'm being offered a 1:8 barrel twist. Will that stabilize
bullets of + - 140 grains?

Yep, a 1:8 twist is fine for 140-160 gr bullets.

Google tells me Swedish mausers were 1:7.87, and they used 156gr pills in those I do believe.

Berger bullets also has a twist rate calculator you could play with. Berger also makes a 156gr EOL bullet that calls for a 1:8 twist.

I've shot 150gr SMK and 160gr Woodleigh PP from a 8 twist, no problems. It will work well

+ - 140 is confusing... + what and - what?

It's a quicker twist than you need for 140's but it will work fine and also handle the longer bullets... build away and enjoy it..

+ or - 10 grains, 140 being starting weight. Iwould use heavier if they work fine.
