Hello all: I just recently purchased a new .264 Win Mag and was wondering if anyone had some successful recipes worked up for their rifles. I am looking at shooting the Hornady Interbond 129gr, but would like to hear from anyone with experience in this calibre.

Thanks a lot

This is my favorite cartridge, i use 129 Hornady`s as well as 120 Nosler`s. My favorite powder is 75grs. of H870, which has been discontinued, H4831 works well. Any of the slow burners should do the job. Norma mrp worked good as well just harder to find, Haven`t tried any Reloader powders but they should work as well. In both my rifles i`ve had best groups just below max load. Bit of a barrel burner but i still like it.

I have had good luck with IMR 7828, even though I wanted other powders to work better. Have tried RL-22, H-4831, US-869 and H-1000. Love this caliber, not hard on barrels if you pace your shooting.:ar15:

Could you tell us more about your purchase.... maybe a picture or two ?

I have tried a few powders that have worked well but the one my rifle likes best is H1000 loaded with the 140 Sierra SBT, speed is chronographed at 3125fps.

61.5 grains of H4831 behind a 140 grain bullet. H1000 should work well too. I'm on barrel #3 and I don't shoot that fast. It is a barrel burner. Good for about 800-900 rounds.

If you are shooting 130gr bullets, you could get away with H1000, IMR7828 or even H4831. Retumbo & H870 work well with 140gr bullets. With a little less weight those powders should work well. 24 or 26 inch tube?

Hey all: Thanks a lot for the replies. I bought the Ruger M77 Hawkeye in stainless synthetic. It has the 24" barrel (I know I'll lose a bit of speed). This is going to be a prairie deer/sheep rifle and I am super excited to get her to the range. It's supposed to be delivered today from Prophet River. I'll put up some pics when I get my hands on her. I am looking at shooting the 129gr Hornady Interbond and from the feedback I think I'll try some IMR7828 and some H4831.

Thanks again everyone. Really appreciate the info.

I had a hawkeye 264 last year with the 24" barrel,it was a good shooter. My only complaint was it didn't deliver any more velocity than a standard 270 win with a 22" pipe,or very very little gain.It will make a great long range deer/sheep round.
