I noticed in the ruger website that they are making a run of the 264 win mag in there new hawkeye. Has anyone tried one? and who might be able to get one?
thanks
The barrel life of the 264 has always been touted as it's downfall. I say enjoy the 264! If you are using it solely as a long range hunting rig, you will not wear the barrel out in a lifetime, and if you do? You'll have a lot of fun doing it. Rebarrel it and carry on. I have had several 264's, and although one had well in excess of 1000 rounds through it, it was still sub-moa with loads it liked. Regards, Eagleye.
Remington is making a specal run in a 700CDL in 264 Win. too. With a 26" flutted barrel, blue or stainless! I have one on order.
Those are very hard hitters on the barrel. The life of a barrel in 264 mag is really less than any other magnum. You can check in the book "cartridge of the world"
99% of hunters will never put 3000rds down the barrel. Who cares?
