I guess one more thread wont hurt. What bullet are you looking to load ?

Slow powders are a must, RL25, retumbo, H1000 , H870 (if you can find it) US 869 to name a few.

I think the 140 grain bullets or 130 gr. Barnes TSX is just right for this chambering. Im taking my 264 Deer hunting later this week, Will be used on the longer ranges only.

so far all i have been able two buy are 140 gr i was wondering if there were any lighter ones avalable the 140s worked very well on mooes .but mayby 100gr would be better for deer and yotes .i do not care for a 270 cal and wanted a one gun do all here i can shot anything under 30 cal and still have plenty for the odd larger game

IF you're talking about factory ammunition then I think there is only 140 gr. available. I chronied some 140 gr. loads from winchester and they were puttin along at about 3010 fps out of 2 foot barrel. This is definitly a reloader's cartridge.

No doubt you can do just about all your hunting with a 264. Load up some 95 gr. For coyote and 140 - 160 gr. for moose. The 130 gr. Barnes tsx is a good one, still playing around with that one but its coming with me this weekend for whitetails.

Tried some 130 TSX's this week on Sask mulies. Works just fine, inch + hole in rib cage going in and 2-3 + inch hole going out. Tried to make 120 tsx work in my 264 with RL-22 but no joy, best group was just, and I mean just under 1 inch. Switched to H-4831 and largest group was just about an inch, and all kinds of speed :dancingbanana: With the 130 tsx IMR-7828 was best powder, running a mild load at just over 3100fps and about +.5 inch. Am going to experiment more with 120's and H-4831 some more, weather permitting.
