264 winchester ? browning mauser action

We I have an od 0ne.
A browning montreal/ UT marked bbl
But its a Mauser action.
High gloss classic browning finish.
But I'm not up an old bolt guns.
It this a rework. Or just an early br0wning sporting gun?
It has a classic hunting stock.
Old bushnell 3x9 and browning 1 pc base and twist in rings.
What do I have here
And 264 win???
 
FN safari Browning med/heavy stepped barrel ? If so they are nice guns I have one in .308 Norma Mag.........Harold
 
It will be a sporting FN action. Does it have the simplified bolt release/ejector? Its trigger mechanism is likely akin to a M70 Winchester's.
.264WinMag isn't particularly popular, but this should be a nice rifle.

Very nice trigger pull as well

Finish and stock 70% maybe 80% bore is perfect
19 factory winchester rounds.
Any idea of a price Point?
 
Hopefully it doesn't have the salt cured walnut stock......some had......remove the barrelled action from the stock and peek under the barrel channel for rust.........Harold
 
Harold is right about the salty Belgian wood. During the 1960's it was used to speed drying of stock wood. I had a Tbolt that looked great until you pulled the action from the stock. The .264 Win mag should have at least a 36 inch barrel for maximum performance. Newer powders like Retumbo and Reloader 33 really make it perform.
 
well defintly not salt cured stock as the bluing under the barrel where it meets the stock is better then the top side
just stripping and cleaning the gun at the moment will post some pics
