Howdy,
A few photos an a quick run down of the hunt on my biggest Stag to date.
a mate an i went out early morning on some fringe land, the area was hot an it wasnt long before we seenn 2 stags making there way back up to the thick timber, i layed on my belly an rested the rifle over the pack an sent a 225gr Woodleigh on its way to the bigger stag about 250-280 (somewhere in that range) Across a gulley an hit low below the shoulder but the deer didnt bolt an i was able to send a few more his way before he ended up in a clump of trees an sat down, we waited an glassed for what seemed like half an hour, but it never did, in survival mode but stayin put, i put on a stalk an got to around 100m with a steep uphill shot an i waited for him to walk out and i BLEW it, but chambered my last round into him although a few ribs back too far as he was on the hoof flat out!
my mate was about 330-350 by now still on the far side when he let rip a few with the 300winmag, It took two in the rump from him an that slowed it up enough where it made its way over the ridge an said its last words.
My biggest to date, The 35 Whelen wasnt set up for such a "long" shot, Its now used for Scrub stalking an now bought a 300WSM for such hunts!
Enjoy the pics , lemme know what ya think
