270 for moose

150 Grain Hornady Interlock or 150 Grain Partition in front of 54 Grains of IMR4831 knocks'em flat. I've taken a cow and a calf and a friend of mine has taken 6 moose with a .270. I highly recommend sticking with 150 grain bullets.

This is all great advice boys! I'm gonna try different heavier ammo to see how my rifle groups with these. But I'm sure liking what I hear about the 270.

The biggest moose I ever shot was taken with a 270 with 140gr X bullet, took about 5 steps & fell over.He was dead on his feet & did not know it.DAN>>>

Be not afraid to use the 270. It's all I have ever used and have yet to lose an animal. Pet load is 54 grains IMR 4831 Hornady 140 gr BTSP. Shortest distance to moose 45ft went 20 ft 52 incher .....longest 450 yards, (52.5 incher), ran 10 yards and fell over .... measured in my redfield accutrac... 2 years ago 380 yards lazered..3 steps... If you can shoot well enough, and this is the key to any weapon, the weapon will do the rest provided you have the right lead. Hornady has worked in my 270 for 20 years..
