270 vs. 30-06

Oh i've always wanted to be the 1st one to say this... this thread had been done a MILLION times. lol

I'm just kidding. I'm sure it has but i don't care. I use a .30.06 my dad uses a .270. i have killed everything from a bear to a gopher with my .30. 06 and my dad has done the same with his .270 get whichever you like they are both great calibers and you will be very happy with either one. Just make sure you learn how to shoot it lol.

Both are great rounds. Very similiar in performance. The .270 being slightly better. That being said, the 30/06 is better on larger game as it is .23 caliber larger.

The 30/06 has a little more recoil.

If you cant make up your mind go for the .280 remington. GREAT ROUND !
Only problem is that its not available as much as the 270 or 30/06.

Good luck

Two years ago I owned an 30-06, and preferred it the 270 Win. I sold the 30-06 and bought a 270 (and now prefer it). Next year, I will probably trade the .270 for a 30-06 again...for no other practical reason exceptthat It might be shinier.

The despite all the ballistic masterbation, the calibres are virtually interchangeable (with the exception of .031 of an inch).

Hakx

If you go the 270 route, don't forget the three letters......WSM.
Not sure of your budget, but two that shine T-3 and the X-bolt.
Had both in my hands t'other day and for some reason the Browning
would do it for me. Re and re the clip and it's just too easy. Falls
right in. The wood/blue would also be my pick.
Giddyupgo times a wasting.

A 200 grain partition or a 220 grain Hornady RN loaded to the max puts the 30-06 in a different league.

30-06 vs 270

to my opinion the 06 is superior all the way, specially on the bullet variety which you don't see on the 270, i had a 270 before and i'd like to own another one because it shoots great but the 2 calibers are almost identical. love both but i go 06 if only one rifle.
