270 win. 130g Core Lokt, how do they work on game

This is the classic 270 load, use it with confidence and Corelockt are a very hard hitting ammo... JP.

I would have no problem using it on anything in this country.

Well within hunting requirements for accuracy to boot! Don't ask what rifle did that either!

The .270 was the first rifle I bought for myself, and for many years was the only big game rifle I owned. For the most part I used ordinary 130 grain Sierra and Hornady bullets for everything. You have to try really hard to find a bad bullet for a .270.

Both cup n core designs.

I prefer controlled expansion stuff for bear, but they both will kill deer and bear.

The SST will be a bit more frangible (at least in my experience) - so I would take the core-locts personally.

dont shoot too close otherwise you ll have some spare leads in the meat. nothing else will works but if you have a chance ill choose a more strong bullet.

all the best and good shooting time.

X2. 130gr bullet in 270Win at short shooting distances will bloodshot the meat as much as 7mmMag with 140gr bullet no matter the brand. Use the 150gr bullet at 2700-2800fps at muzzle and meat waste will diminish quite a bit....Rem CL bullet is a good one and if 130gr one is to be used then downloading is a good idea. My 2c....GR8.

The 270 with a 130 grain bullet is an awesome combination, Remember Jack OConnor! And the CoreLokt has been made for 60 years by Remington , WHY DO THINK THAT IS? Respectfully Jim. This info is from memory...Don't quote me...LOL

Core Lokt's are not the same bullet today that they were when initially introduced. They have a much thinner jacket now than 50+ years ago. Remington bean counters got a hold of the design many years ago and neutered it a bit. That being said, they perform as good as any cup and core bullet out there, perhaps a tad better. The 130 grain load in a .270 is a classic though.

I got some old Rem Kleanbore stuff marked $4.10...Im gonna dissect one to see if you are right...Not because I don't believe you, but out of curiosity..

I used to use the 150 core lokd to get my moose every year with my 270. At 275 yds they would quite often pass through but if I did find one it would be a perfect mushroom under the skin on the opposite side.

The newer Cor-Lokt ultra is even better, but those ordinary Remington offerings have been working fine for decades.
I would have no issue using them on Deer and Black Bear, despite the naysayers.
Eagleye.

Agree...I have dumped the majority of my big game with plain old vanilla Cor-Lokts..No issues at all...Handloading is relatively new to me (10 yrs), but I do still shoot alot of Cor-Lokts from my surplus of ammo...Still kills every bit as good as anything I load...

All bullet construction and ballistic masturbation aside, a 130 grain pill is THE bullet for the .270 Winchester. Post pics!!
