It will kill the moose dead, best to use a heavy for caliber bullet with a strong construction. Like a 150/160g partition, Barnes TTSX, 150 A Frame, or a bonded bullet. 270’s are pretty fast and with a light bullet and construction it can lack penitration with a moose.

What he said. Don't get caught up in trying to get the flattest trajectory possible and pick a light bullet. Use a good 150 gr and up bullet and you'll be fine.

Plenty, I use a 25-06 mostly, took a nice bull with 7.62X39 along with a couple elk. Put the bullet where it needs to go..

At one point in time - the .30-30 was the most powerful big game cartridge around.....I am sure that moose have been killed with black powder cartridges and bows before as well. If you went back 150 years some might just think you were overgunned with a .270. They're not magic, they're meat. If you're worried about a clean kill, get closer.

My .270 Win is my go-to for almost everything from Coyotes to calf Moose. Ontario adult Moose can get to almost 1100lbs and a .270 is a tad light at ranges over 150m which isn't at all uncommon on Hydro cuts and across swamps. In that case, the .308 and .30-06 rule supreme to ensure a quick, ethical harvest.

Ive shot them with a 140 gr hornady spire point load, killed em.

I have a dozen boxes of Remington corelokt 150 gr., Walmart had them on sale for $10. Bought all they had.
Also have Hornady and Sierra 130 gr that I handload.
Gun is a Ruger American in a Boyd's laminate stock. Accurate with anything I've tried in it for a budget gun. Shoots under an inch with pretty well everything.
