Just picked up a tikka t3x superlight in 270 win. I bought some 150gn TSX's today before realizing they might not fully stabilize but want to give them a try anyway. Any chance somebody has tried this combo? If so I'd appreciate some recipe info because I seem to have a talent for picking powders that won't work well. :p

Ok thanks! Yeah I was hoping for something a bit lighter but that was the only solid copper in stock and no returns unfortunately. I'll definitely give 130's a try once I'm through this box though.

130-150 gr bullets are made for the 270. Having said that, my 270 loves 130 gr ttsx! so I never felt the need to change. With barnes bullets, use a lighter bullet at higher velocity, it will retain its weight and will need no lower than 2200 fps for reliable expansion.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll give them a try since I'm stuck with them and switch to something lighter once I run out. H4831 seems to be popular from what I've read so I'll probably start with that. Are there any other powders I should try?

I think they will still shoot. I'd try H4831sc. I find you should have a node in around 56 - 57gr (over book max?). But load up carefully. If you can get RL23, that would be an awesome powder for the 270 in a 150gr bullet. Just remember that you want your impact velocity with a TSX to be at least 2000fps so don't shoot beyond that range where the velocity drops below that.

If you're wanting a monometal, I wouldn't look any further than the 129gr Barnes LRX

H4831sc, RL19, RL22, RL23, RL26, IMR 4955, IMR 4831, Ramshot Hunter are all good fuel for the 270 Win

First, I never reload Barnes bullets for any cartridge, for obvious reasons. My favorite bullet for the 270 Win. is the 130 grain Nosler Accubond in front of Alliant Reloder #26. There are many other good bullets and powders for the 270 Win., however, my combination has proven the best, in which I experienced.

I'll will be trying 130 accubonds and reloder 26 this weekend. If it doesn't prove accurate I will go with my standby load. 60gr h4831sc and 130 gr ttsx.

Bring your chronograph, you will be content with velocity as well. I use Alliant #26 in three different cartridge in the past year, and has proven itself greatly.............a most stable powder.

I found a sweet load at 57.2 gr of H4831SC in a dominion brass with the same bullet, and a magnum primer.
Had pressure signs at 57.5, so start maybe at 55 and work up from there.

Velocity was my main reason for trying this powder. I will try nosler and ttsx bullets and will go with the most accurate. I'm leaving the following weekend for my annual mule deer hunt. :) Thanks for the info.
