I'd like to start reloading for my .270. I shoot a Rem 700 w/20" barrel. Can anybody share a pet load for a 140 gr Accubond? Any special considerations for the short barrel?

Thanks in advance.

I'd be trying H4831sc or RL22

the fastest load in a long barreled rifle will be the fastest in a short tube as well, so slow burning powders will yield the highest speeds on average

if you want to tame muzzle blast, try a powder like Varget or RL15, should still perform decent

maybe BC Bigbore will chime in, he's had good success with the 140 gr. Accubond in his 270 Win

I loaded my son's Wincheser carbine that had a 20 inch barrel, same loads as norma, just about 100 fps slower. I sold the gun but his Tikka loves 140 gr accubonds with 59.5 grains of H4831sc and a CCI magnum primer. Work up to this, it's over the max for 140 gr ballistic tips inthe nosler manual but is max for 140 SST inthe hornady book.
