.270 winchester ammo

i had my first taste of 270Win ammo today..i was using 130 Gr PP in my Mossberg 4x4 and was very satified with its performance. I am a newbie when it comes to this ammo, so could someone more used to using this ammo, please fill me in on the pros and cons of the different sizes of ammo should i use 130 Gr, 150Gr or something else, my main use will be muleys, cariboo and maybe a moose if i ever win the lottery.

I have only had 1 270 win I maybe fired 1 box of factory through it the rest were reloads. I had good luck with 140 gr Hornady interlocks. I would feel comfortable using it on any of the game you listed. Good luck and have fun.
 
Generally speaking the .270win is known for shooting the 130grn bullet. Most any 130gr will be fine for all your deer and caribou needs, just use whatever is most accurate in your rifle.

For Moose you may want to move to either a 150gr or a premium bullet for better penetration.
 
i reload for my 270 Winchester 130 gn bullet over 50 grains of imr 4831 and also shoot 150 grain Remington core lokts and found out they seem to shoot the same with in a half inch inch.

anyways what i am trying to say is either 130 grainers or 150 grainers will shot relitivley good in the 270
 
Ive used a few different .270 ammunitions. I've tried 110 gr HP, 130gr psp, 150gr sp.

I stuck with 130gr for whitetail and bear. I did shoot a couple coyotes with the 110gr HPs but it is a big game low-recoil round suitable deer. I don't think you'll get see any advantage from the 150gr unless your hunting moose/elk, or shooting long range 500+yds.

I've tried Federal's Fusion loads in .243 Win & .30-06 with perfectly acceptable groups. For the .270's, handloaded 140gr Nosler Accubonds at 2900+ fps in the .270 Win & 3150 fps in the .270 WSM gave great results on deer. These loads are both below maximum but are very accurate in my rifles. There's also a stash of .277" 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and 150gr Nosler Partitions on the bench I haven't developed any loads with yet.
 
ive got about 1000 rnds though my m77 i only load 140 grn with 54gn imr4350 and been happy with that for the last 25yrs ,moose,elk,blk bear, whitetail ,mulie,&coyote have all fallen to this load, when i get a grizz draw i,ll load up some 160gn .they all still fit in the size of a toonie .
