Afternoon everyone.

I couple of years ago I purchased a Sako 85 in .270 WSM and mounted a Leupold VXIII CDS on it. At that time my local shop carried lots of the particular ammo that I used (Federal Premium 130GR) but now it is almost impossible to find it in .270WSM here locally. Any thoughts on other Brands/Models that would suit? I hunt moose mostly, and some black bear...the 130GR bullets did a great job.

(I realize that I will have to order another CDS from Leupold).

Thanks!

Which bullet were you using in the Fed Premium? There's a few options within that line and that info would help pick a replacement. Its easier to order what you are using than switch though.

You may not need to switch dials at all. First try the one you have, and if necessary a little judicious tweaking and slipping of the scale might fix you up.

For an entirely made up example lets pretend that your dial is set up for a 200 yard zero and the new load is hitting 1 MOA low at 500. Just add the 4 clicks and reset the dial so it reads 500. It'll be so close at 400 and 600 that you'll probably not know the difference. At the 200 yard zero it'll be 2" high which doesn't matter at all.

Hi,
i've tried some ammo in my Browning BLR 270 WSM. Use is for Big Game Hunting (Moose).

Here is the best grouping after testing these in my rifle (at 100 yards):
#1) Federal Trophy Bonded Tip 140gr (1.0'' MOA)
#2) Barnes Vor-Tx TSX 140gr (1.2'' MOA)
#3) Winchester Accubond CT 140gr and Federal Accubond 130gr (1,5'' MOA)
#4) Federal Nosler Partition 150gr (1,5-2,0'' MOA)

Are they same results as yours ? Am I missing some other options ?

I cant really recommend anything in particular, other the to say if your guns likes 130gr, stay with that weight.

I would say when you find a load it likes, by a case of it. It aint going to get cheaper, and it may disappear altogether.

I sold my 270WSM because of low availability and rising cost of ammunition.

My Tikka T3 likes the Federal Fusion 150 grain factory ammo. Generally 1 " or better at 100 yards for a 3 shot group.Tried some 130 Barnes and 150 Winchester Ballistic tips. Neither could come close To thé Fusions.

x2 on the 150 federal fusions- premium partitions ore ok, and the remington corlokt 130s are garbage. I handload for my 270wsm, and get really good results with the partitions 130 and 150grains loaded in the middle range.

My 270WSM liked any 130 gr bullet better then any other weight. It really liked the Corelokts, actually. It really hated 150gr bullets. Mine was a Win Model 70

When I had my 270 WSM, it shot the federal Premium 140 gr AccuBond load very well, and perfromed great on moose and elk.
I would try the Nosler Trophy Grade ammo if you can find it.
While not a premium bullet, the Winchester Power Point ammunition has never disappointed in the accuracy department, while not always the most accurate, usually 1 to 1 1/2 MOA, and on-game performance within reasonable shooting distances was very good.
As for the Federal Fusion ammo, regardless of cartridge or rifle, I have neither seen nor heard of it not shooting at least well, to very well, and performs very well on game.
