.270win for 160gr Nosler partition

Good day,
I didn't think the .270 was effective with more than 150gr bullets but have recently read that 160gr Nosler shoots pretty good and has a good SD. Anyone have experience with it and can share some load recipes.

I loaded a few test rounds today. Vanguard S2, IMR4831 50gr avg 2500 fps fair amount of deviation, same powder 52gr avg 2550 fps low deviation. 200 yards similar groupings.
 
I used H4831 on a 3/4 box of Dominion 160gr KKSP..........don't remember the load but they were the cat's pajamas for dropping WT's kicked out of their beds running through the poplars.Picked them up at a garage sale and shot them up until gone on deer.They were as accurate as the 130gr in my Model 70.
 
The Nosler 160 gr Partition is my default bullet in my Husqvarna for moose. Very accurate, 100% reliable expansion and bullet integrity at all ranges, great penetration, breaks large bones and continues plowing forward and all without excessive meat destruction. I had excellent results with RL 22, H 4831 and Norma MRP but settled on a near max load of H 4831SC. Check with reliable reloading manuals for suitable recipes, including the Nosler manual. Incidentally, the old CIL Imperial load with the very reliable 160 gr KKSP bullet chrono'd at nearly 2750 in my 20 1/2" barrel, my best Nosler 160 loads were around 2800 fps.
 
Your load is pretty mild. A 22" 270 Win will be able to push the 160gr Partition to 2700 fps with IMR 4831, and a little over 2800 fps with the top performing powders (RL26, N560, IMR 7828, RL25, Magpro, RL22)
 
I used it in the past out of a Remington Mountain Rifle (22"). I loaded with RL 22 and got somewhere in the mid-2700 fps range. Now I use RL26 and 150gr Partitions and am around 2970 fps out of a 22" barrel. To me the big trade-off in velocity is not worth the extra 10 grains of bullet weight - especially when the 150 works so well. The 160gr sure does look cool though!
