Just bought my first .260....owned a .270 in a Rem pump......didnt like it much, but the calibre is a great choice. I personally like the short action of the .260 and the fact that it is a bit under-rated.....

Owned a .284Win and theres something nice about owning a round that is considered 'dead' or underrated IMO....

:sucks:
I can't think of a shot I would take with a 270 that I wouldn't take with my 260......both begin running outta steam past 300 and really......what's the diff out to that ? ;)
NO animal hit with either would know the difference:rolleyes:

I own both but have not had my New Ruger 260 out yet.Picked up 5 boxes of factory ammo at the Eganville show.In case I do not find time to reload for it:eek: :p .DAN>>>

Any thing that uses a 6.5 bullet kicks ass.

Well I cannot argue the effiency of the .260.... but greater ammo selection than .277 I don't think so. There are a lot more .277 bullets readily available in weights ranging from 90 to 160 grain for the .270.
Other than a shorter action and more efficiency I can see no advantage over a .270. In fact the .270 is faster and flatter right across the board and with the larger diameter bullet and more energy delivered, it is the more efficient killer.;)

I'm a big fan of the 260 but as far as practical hunting rifle for the large deer species I'd tip to the boring 270. Target shooting would go to the 6.5 though.
